101 Things in 1001 Days
Something new I’m going to try… I think I may combine it with the 52 Screen-Free Nights:
I’ll be setting up a separate blog with my list and progress, once I get organized and get started. More to come!
1 commentLet it Go…
My friend Heather posted this a while back on her MySpace blog, and when I re-read it today, it really resonated with me. And I wanted to save it in some small way, so I posted it here. (It has a lot of God references in it, and if you are a believer, or not, its still powerful.)
No commentsGain 10 Days Per Year?
Sign me up! I’d like to even get an extra 10 minutes a day, since I’m a big-time fan of sleeping. As a matter of fact, I was even thinking to myself last night that I think its neat to have pillows that no one besides me has slept on.

No commentsBeing Snarky
I was told the other day that I was being snarky. Now, I know I’m a sarcastic person (yes, I just heard you all roll your eyes out there and say “No, really…”) but I never thought of myself as snarky.
Here’s the definition of snarky:
A colloquialism meaning short-tempered or snappish.
After getting that definition, it reinforced my desire to essentially be a better person. I don’t want to be seen as short-tempered or snappy - even when sometimes people deserve it. (Darn it, there I go again!)
Here’s to nicer posts, coming soon. (Either that, or all my snarkiness is going to show up here… not sure which yet.
43 Things
So, my friend recommended today that I google “Patience for Stupid People” when I was frustrated, and looking for anything that would help me. And the first link was to a website called “43things“
Right now, I’m mostly just having fun reading what everyone else is wanting to do, but I’m finding some things that I’d like to do myself. If I do end up joining, I’ll add a link to my goals on my homepage. ![]()
Listening
Consider this about an 8 hour work day:
You spend about 4 hours in listening activities;
You hear about 2 hours worth;
You actually listen to an hour’s worth;
You understand 30 minutes of that hour;
You believe only 15 minutes’ worth; and
You remember just under 8 minute’s worth.
Crazy, I know… and when I actually start thinking about it, I believe that to be true. Over the last few days, I’ve had the opportunity to just talk more with a few of my co-workers. Some of this is because of the slower time of year, and some is because we were saying our goodbyes as I transitioned away from the division I’ve been working in for the last 2 years. I am starting to wonder how much I will remember. Based on the above calculation - you actually only remember 3% of what you “listen” to. That mean’s I’ll only remember ~22 days worth of what I’ve done.
In 2007, I hope to listen more - pay attention more. I want to be quieter to understand more. I think we could all use a few more people listening, and society could use a little less noise.
1 commentKnowing When To Quit
Sometimes I really think I need to learn when to quit. Now, for example would be a good time. Not my job or anything drastic like that - but probably the drugs. (Just kidding - for those of you who know me, you’ll know that drugs aren’t something I do.)
Despite the fact that I am overwhelmed with and unable to keep up with my current job, I’ve taken on the responsibilities to help with marketing a struggling club in the northern Colorado area. I’m not sure if the guy who bought the club wants me to market it because he thinks I’ll be good at it, or because he just wants to hang out with me. Either way, its going to be an interesting opportunity and challenge.
And on the guy front - since that seems to be what these posts always come back to… yeah. I should quit trying with them too.
