Life is a Highway

May 30th, 2007 | Category: Life, writing

As I’ve been getting ready the last several mornings, the song “Life is a Highway” keeps coming on the radio. I’m sure that most of you probably think that my radio station is rather behind the times, but its not. They just seem to have some affinity for that song.

Follow-up on Being Lost

May 29th, 2007 | Category: Life, writing

I’ve heard it said that not all who wander are lost. Maybe this is the case of the humpback whales that have been “lost” in the Sacramento River for the past couple of weeks. Rescuers have been trying every tactic, including finally shooting fire hoses into the river, to drive the whales back into the ocean. It seemed as if they were finally making progress, moving the whales downstream to Honker Bay, but now they face a new threat: large ships.

Another Sequel to Gone With the Wind

May 26th, 2007 | Category: Reading & Books

Gone With the Wind is easily one of my favorite books. I’m fascinated by the Civil War, and the depth of the love between Rhett and Scarlett sweeps me away - even if things don’t work out in the end. Maybe its because I read the book for the first time when I was 12 or 13, around the time when my little brain cells were bursting with the ideas of love.

Gain 10 Days Per Year?

May 24th, 2007 | Category: Goals, Life

Sign me up! I’d like to even get an extra 10 minutes a day, since I’m a big-time fan of sleeping. As a matter of fact, I was even thinking to myself last night that I think its neat to have pillows that no one besides me has slept on.

If you’d like to gain more time, check out Sleep Adjustment - Gain 10 days per year

The E-mail To-Don’t List

May 24th, 2007 | Category: working

I’m not really sure why other magazines don’t follow the lead of Men’s Health. I love that magazine, even though I’m definitely not a man, and not all that interested in the health of men.

Thanks to my friend Amanda for sending me this: The E-mail To-Don’t List.

Sharks Can Reproduce Alone

May 23rd, 2007 | Category: Life

… so I guess it’s too bad I’m not a shark. :)
Researchers have found that hammerhead sharks can reproduce alone. They produce what’s called a “sister polar body” when they produce an egg, which can then bond to the egg and create baby sharks. The baby shark is genetically disadvantaged, because of a lack of genetic diversity that is created when two different genetic types mate. You can read more about the findings at Female Sharks Can Reproduce Alone.

Is Bitching Healthy? Helpful?

May 21st, 2007 | Category: Life, working

So, it’s Monday… what better day to read about if bitching is really good for you. Is it healthy? According to the Life Coaches Blog, bitching can be theraputic. The article even discusses what a life coach will do to help make sure that your bitching is healthy. The biggest problem I saw here? They only allow bitching for 1 minute! Anybody who’s been in a situation that’s worth bitching about knows that sometimes it takes more than 60 seconds to get it all out there.

The rest of the tips are pretty good though… here are their steps:

People Aren’t the Only Ones Who Get Lost

May 16th, 2007 | Category: Life

As it turns out, people aren’t the only ones who get lost. 2 Humpback whales have made their way into the water outside of Sacramento, California. You can read the full story here.

Poor things… I just home that they find their way out of that area safely. Maybe Dora from “Finding Nemo” can sing her little song to them, or do her whale calls.

Just keep swimming
Just keep swimming
