Spinner Magazine covers the 20 Worst Lyrics Ever including ones from Culture Club, Elton John, Eminem, and P.Diddy. Imagine that - bad lyrics from P.Diddy. It was worth a couple of laughs though.
No commentsCircuit City Layoffs
Apparently Circuit City is laying off some of its “higher paid” work force to hire new employees at lower wages. The positions of the people being laid off *are not being eliminated* - just the higher level paychecks are. The people who are being laid off may re-apply for their current job 10 weeks after their severance. If they are re-hired, it will be at the new, lower wage. Of course, thats if their job hasn’t already been filled.
Now, I dont know about you - but I don’t see this as being a fair and just business practice - even in the face of competition. You can all make your own choices, but after reading this story, I’m not shopping at Circuit City again.
Here’s a link to the story about 4 workers in Fort Collins who were laid off.
No commentsMy Favorite Movie… Ruined.
“If Lucy Fell.”
Nobody’s ever seen this movie, besides me. Its got Sarah Jessica Parker, in her pre-Sex in the City days, and Ben Stiller before his Zoolander days. And Elle McPherson. Its got silly stuff, sad stuff, and has always been one of my favorite Romantic Comedies. Everyone else loves “When Harry Met Sally” - I love “If Lucy Fell.”
So, I start watching, because thats what you do when your favorite movie is on.
And they’ve cut out words - on behalf of the TV sensor. Now, normally I don’t mind, but the word they’ve cut is “Dick”, and in this case it really is used in relation to artwork. (Joe is a painter, and he’s done a painting called Limp Dick Man.) They won’t allow Elle McPherson to whisper “He does have a rather limp dick”; but, they do allow Joe to announce that he has herpes. On his mouth.
Whatever - the movie is fabulous. Watch it. With or without the Limp D*ck Man.
And stay tuned for my favorite quote:
“I’m starting to get this dating thing, I think. I sit back and watch as these strange men try to impress you in weird and stupid ways, and then, you pick the least disgusting one, I guess.”
43 Things
So, my friend recommended today that I google “Patience for Stupid People” when I was frustrated, and looking for anything that would help me. And the first link was to a website called “43things“
Right now, I’m mostly just having fun reading what everyone else is wanting to do, but I’m finding some things that I’d like to do myself. If I do end up joining, I’ll add a link to my goals on my homepage. ![]()
To Ponder…
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be,
It’s the way it is.
The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

And no, just because I found this website, it does not mean there are babies in my future.
1 commentObsessive-Compulsive Tendencies
Lately I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about some people who can actually work out as a hobby, in comparison to people like me, who would rather eat cookies. Some of the theories I’ve heard are:
- Habit. After 21 days of doing something consistently, its a habit. You just do it. Maybe working out is just a habit.
- Addiction. We know that working out can release endorphins. Maybe those chemicals are addictive for some people.
- Obsessive-Compulsiveness. This seems like the most reasonable excuse… that we each have a bit of OCD, and for some people, it is manifested in working out.
According to the person who came up with this theory, my OCD manifestation is in reading. Because the truth is, I’ll read just about anything I can get my hands on. Including text books, children’s books, milk cartons, cereal boxes, and instruction manuals.
I think that reading is a perfectly acceptable manifestation of OCD, but I’d like to expand mine to include working out. Any suggestions?
I’ve got a competition to win!
2 commentsOh my god… shoes!
Whenever something hurts my feelings, or I’m feeling exceptionally sad, I shop. I’ve written about shopping before. But after the super-great event of this weekend, I needed some retail therapy.
Since I’m doing the biggest loser contest at work, I refuse to let myself buy clothes. With some hard work and luck they won’t be fitting in another few weeks anyway. So, I bought shoes.
I bought 3 pairs of shoes.
And a purse.
And sunglasses.
Remind me next time that I want retail therapy to head to the dollar store instead.
No commentsSpiders
Here’s an interesting video on how different drugs affect spiders. It gives an interesting perspective on why drugs affect people the way that they do.
Oh, and for those of you who are afraid of spiders - don’t worry. Its not scary.
